A highlight of this year’s luncheon was a visit from City Councilman, Antonio Villaraigosa, who discussed his rise from the inner city to LA’s political arena. After this inspiring speech, Mizar Rodriguez, a 1992 graduate of the Utah Street School, shared how a LAHq Holiday Luncheon over ten years ago impacted his life. He is currently a teacher’s assistant at the Utah Street School and credits the organization with motivating him to pursue his goal of becom-ing a teacher.
